You can read an interview about her writing beginnings here.
She is fond of adventures, fountain pens, red lipstick, handwritten letters, very old jazz, obscure books, rooftops, late nights, empty streets, singalongs, lingerie, period dramas (esp.Mad Men), very tiny rings, Ferragamo Varas, etiquette, and listing things in an eshetically pleasing way.
Laura Yan loves stories. Creating them, telling them, reading them. When she was born she was named the “Heart of Literature” (it was the title of the first work of Chinese literary criticism, though she is not fond of literary criticism). Then she moved to San Diego, CA and renamed herself after a Lara Croft poster. The rest is history.
